MOTION PICTURE PROJECTS

Archangel is in the process of developing several projects for production. Three of these will be chosen for production, based on the demand/acceptance established through interviews with key distributors.  The goal is to make movies that will have mass appeal and that also meet the demands of distributors.

Successful movies over the last 20 years, both from an artistic and business perspective, had the following characteristics:

  • Energy—dramatic tension (not necessarily action or special effects).

  • Pace—films that set a swift pace at the outset and maintain it throughout.

  • Three acts—three-act story structure.

  • Meaningful characters—about which the audience cares.

  • Strong visceral response—the audience has a strong emotional reaction.

  • Unique—stories and characters are not derivative but original.

  • Accessible—characters/stories with whom the audience can strongly identify

  • One genre—examples: action, comedy, drama or suspense.

Some of these characteristics are rather subjective but they nevertheless provide some guide as to what types of movies production companies should be striving to make to minimize risk and maximize profitability (i.e., “artistic and business success”).  Archangel is therefore currently developing the following projects based on the principle “E4: Entertaining, Educational, Emotional, and Eye-opening”:
