Archangel’s first and foremost goal is to develop and produce films that are commercially successful. This is crucial in order to create a business that is self-sustaining. To achieve this, Archangel’s strategy integrates four key areas of filmmaking: Development, Production, Financing and Distribution.
Development: focus a significant amount of time and resources on the scripts. A story-driven movie is the key to an independent filmmaker’s success. Archangel has initiated talks with several directors and casting directors to gauge levels of interest in a portfolio of six to seven scripts. Upon funding, Archangel will focus resources on strengthening/polishing the three scripts chosen for production. The scripts currently under development are described in detail elsewhere on this website.
Production: Create a strong, experienced production team. This involves hiring highly experienced UPMs, directors, casting directors, and cinematographers. Archangel will maintain a tight control over the actual production of the movies, ensuring that the best quality movies are made within the limits of an agreed-to budget.
Financing: Raise $4.5 million through equity financing from investors, including industry players like studios and/or distributors. This equity financing strategy will take the form of a Limited Liability Company, which issues ownership rights to investors. If necessary, Archangel will obtain pre-sales on the films and obtain bank financing.
Distribution: Strive for distribution commitment prior to production of the film. This will entail conducting interviews with distributors to determine the type of movies they wish to distribute and then tailoring Archangel’s movies to meet those demands. Archangel will then choose the top three (3) movies for production. This will include packaging the three movies with the directors and cast members that meet distributor requirements for choosing a movie for distribution. Obtaining a strong distribution agreement is the key to creating a commercially successful movie. Robbery 101, .357 Mambo and Revolucion have generated the most interest from distributors.
